Job Description

Detasseling seedcorn involves walking down the corn field and pulling the tassel (top) off of the corn plant. Not all plants will have tassels; most are pulled off by a machine ahead of the detasseling crew. Applicants must be able to walk the length of the fields, up to a half mile, while watching for tassels and keeping up with the crew. Field conditions can change daily and even throughout the day from wet to dry and chilly to hot.
